Orissa’s tourism department
on Tuesday marked the World Tourism Day with a rally to create
awareness among the people of the state’s heritage sites and
tourism potential.
People from all walks of life participated in the rally.
“We are involving everyone to highlight the important of tourism
for our state. Our state is very beautiful, it has a great
tourism potential. State Government should take initiatives to
form an integrated tourism development,” said Orissa Tourism
Department Secretary, Ashok Tripathy.
Shimla also organised the “Great Himalayan Run” two days back on
the occasion of World Tourism Day.
Commencing at the famous Historic Ridge Ground, the event saw the
participation of over 2,000 athletes.
Tourism authorities said they wanted to place the state on the
international tourist map.
